The story revolves around the life of Carrie White who is this shy girl in the high school. She was born to this highly religious mother. Some mysteries are there surrounding Carrie. The movie basically focuses on the attitude of Carrie’s school mates towards her and how that causes issues in her life.
It is supposed to be scary for a larger percentage of the screenplay, but even in a relatively empty cinema hall I wasn’t feeling any sort of tension, horror or thrill. Some love angles and bad plays reminded me of the film a walk to remember which was also about an introvert girl. Here also it is this romance thing which is helping her to come out of this scared zone; but there was no real charm for the romance. And this holy witch part was also kind of dull.
Chloë Grace Moretz was nice as the shy Carrie and Julianne Moore was okay as her mother. Rest of the cast doesn’t deliver any great performance on screen.
The whole treatment of the movie was too dark. Some bright slots in the screenplay would have helped the movie as it shows the outrage of the insulted heart which wanted to break free and live normally. The visual effects were average.
Overall, Carrie is a below average supernatural horror thriller . Two ultra slow motion shots in the climax were the only memorable moments for me in this film. My rating is a generous 2/5. Thumbs down!
