Vicky Donor

The first impression we will have about a commercial movie with the subject of “sperm donation” will be that it will have a lot of dual meaning or cheap non veg jokes. But director Shoojit Sircar’s “Vicky Donor” is surely not in this category. Its a neat, simple and realistic narrative of a topic that has significance in these days.

The story is about a BINDAAZ boy from Delhi Vicky Arora (Ayushmann Khurrana) who gets persuaded by a fertility expert doctor Chaddha (Annu Kapoor) to donate his sperm.Eventhough he wasnt really happy about this, the unbelievable income and demand makes him rich. Meanwhile Vicky finds the lady of life Ashima Roy (Yami Gautham). How this relationship is effected by Vicky’s JOB and how Ashmi realizes the positive side behind this is the reason behind the success of this movie.

Performance wise Ayushmann Khurrana gives no chance to blame his acting. He fits in to the role very comfortably. Yami has given an impressive output. Annu Kapoor delivered a solid Performance both as an irritating doctor and as a helping human being. Loved the onscreen chemistry of both Ayushmann Khurrana and Yami Gautham.No one among the rest of the cast gave a below average performance.

Technically, director has his own style.The impressive making with a low budget itself shows the talent of the director. Screenplay was smooth. Loved the way the scenes were written, because it never felt like a filmy one. The gradual change in the narrative was really impressive. And as I said earlier to make a “Sperm Donor”s movie without any unwanted jokes itself is a tough job.

In short, Vicky Donor is not at all a crap. Made on a budget of around 5 crores with no big locations and star cast VICKY DONOR is a neat and simple entertainer. This movie has its heart in the right place.
I am going out with 3.5/5 for John Abraham’s 1st production venture “Vicky Donor”. You wont regret watching this one!!
