CZ12 from Jackie Chan is a typical Chinese movie that revolves around relics and legacy. It is almost like watching a Bollywood movie in terms of structuring of the script as it has many situations that are over melodramatic and emotional. Jackie Chan’s funny expressions and the cheesy fights are the only thing here to engage you.
The movie is basically about JC’s mission to get 12 bronze heads relics for a corporate company MC Corp. He is offered a handsome figure for each bronze head. During the course of the mission JC understands the value of these relics and how he protects them from company who are about to destroy it is the basic idea of this Jackie Chan action fun.
Well, the basic problem is the simplicity or rather lack of freshness in the content. It is always the same fantasy mission with lot of embedded situations to make us laugh with those Jackie Chan fights and accidents. It makes things quite predictable for the audience and the movie just becomes a quest for fights.
On screen, Jackie Chan is good in his funny and fighting get up. Kwon Sang-woo and Liao Fan is also satisfying as his partners. Rests of the characters are also just about satisfying in terms of performance.
Jackie Chan’s direction is not that cool as his performance. Hiccups are there and the direction fails many times in understanding the pulse of the viewer. The script hangs a lot on many irrelevant situations and thus is quite dragging especially in the first half of the movie. Cinematography isn’t that great. Action choreography suits the JC style. The intro sequence of Jackie Chan was real thumbs down for me.
On the whole, CZ12 from actor director Jackie Chan is just for his die hard fans. It has very less to claim as a good movie. I am giving 2/5 for this half baked action package.
