Ice Age Collision Course

When you compare it with the much evolved animated movies like Zootopia or Inside out, the latest and the last few episodes in the Ice Age franchise are quite less innovative. But still for its minimal runtime of less than 100 minutes, Ice Age franchise offers a good laughter package to its viewers. With the kind of choreographed slapstick jokes along with modern day references in dialogues in a speedy narration, the latest Ice Age film, Ice Age Collision Course offers that instant fun we all expect from the franchise.

The plot this time has a grown up Peaches who wants to live her life with her boyfriend Julian. The concerned father Manny isn’t that convinced about Julian and in the midst of all this an asteroid attack happens and everyone under the leadership of Buck is trying to escape. How they managed to save themselves from this asteroid attack is what Ice Age Collision Course focusing on.

It’s a 95 minutes long movie and if you are someone who has liked all the movies in the franchise so far for its entertainment factor, this one will also keep you occupied. Logic is out of question here and the story is primarily for the kids. But the makers have included these tiny elements of spoofing in the entire content and you as an adult will also get to laugh at those references. From the typical disaster movie formula to the modern day trend of hash tagging every little thing, the film makes fun of many such things and like I said it is not the story that entertains you, it is these bits which are used to construct a pretty juvenile story that puts a smile on your face. The construction of scenes with all the slapstick elements, the witty speedy dialogues and the pace at which events unfold keep the viewers engaged.

In terms of making, the director Mike Thurmeier knows the targeted fan audience of the franchise and have treated the screenplay to cater the dialogue and visualization oriented instant fun. Like I said, story is for the kids and there are no real metaphorical real world political references to nominate this for the Oscars. The abundance of characters wasn’t that convincing. The quality of the animation and the way they created sequences are impressive.

I haven’t really regretted watching any of the Ice Age movies till now and if you belong to that category, Ice Age Collision Course will please you for sure. Its funny, that’s it and that was what I was looking for.
