Agent Vinod

Agent Vinod directed by one of the best in the business in making thrillers, Sriram Raghavan is a disappointment. It turns out to be a waste movie made out of haste. Inspired by the old age Bond movies, Agent Vinod fails miserably t convince the audience even with the slick style of Sriram Raghavan. Trying to make a prototype of Bond movies can well be the reason of this execution error. If Mr Raghavan had gone for a little more ORIGINAL concept, the film would have been much better.

The film is about this Particular RAW agent, Vinod and his mission to find out whats “242” is and things happening after that and on. The story behind 242 itself reminds the backdrop of this years first Bollywood release Players (Official remake of Italian Gold). Husky dialogs, extravagant yet realistic action sequences are the main stand ots of the movie. The audio of the theater was so pathetic that hearing these hush hush dialogs was too difficult.

Performance of Saif ALi Khan as the chief Protagonist is more than satisfactory. He has done it neatly with his stunts and style.Rest of the cast including Kareena, Ram Kapoor,Rajat Kapoor and many more in the list also delivered what they were asked for.

In the technical side, Sriram has followed his style of direction. But the Bond replica type structure of the script makes the movie out of track. He should have made it a littele desi. Its almost like a Bond movie dubbed partially in Hindi. As usual Sriram has delivered some cool dialogs like “Kuch Paane Ke Liye Kuch Khana Padtha Hei”, The dialogs in the scene were Saif and Kareena gets caught after that “Dil Mera Mufth Ka” song. Unfortunately in executing some pivotal scenes with its full effect Mr. Raghavan failed. (Remember the Bomb Diffusing Scene). The songs weren’t used much. That Mortal fight with song in the BG was a beautiful stunt choreography. A pat on the back for that particular scene. At the beginning of the movie, the editing spoiled a major part of the fight’s fun (May be to hide some errors).

Overall AV is an exotically shot, unevenly paced movie with too less fresh content and too much hollywood style. It will be an enjoyable one time DVD watch.

The expectation from Mr. Sriram Raghavan was so much that, I am forced to give this movie a 2/5.
