Cousins

They have tried to make it as colorful as it can be by creating set after set after set and guess what? There is no story! Cousins from director Vysakh is a movie that does not know how to travel to reach its destination. Using the used out theme of memory loss, Cousins is just bunch of witty counter jokes which also falls in the outdated category.

Sam had an accident 6 years back after which he forgot a certain period of his life. As the memory loss problem started to cause serious issues, his 3 cousins decided to go for a trip with him to places where he spent those days which he doesn’t remember now. What happens in this journey and what happened in that mysterious past is what this movie showing us.

In its 134 minutes duration, almost 50% of the time is for some really stupid and outdated jokes. And when it comes to the story part, there is nothing surprising or interesting. We can easily predict certain portions and when Indrajith’s character reveals some hidden truths towards the climax, the exhausted viewer in you can only smirk at it. Money is spent lavishly to create sets which amused me as the script never really demanded that much of grandness.

Unlike other Vysakh movies (excluding Vishudhan) there is dullness in the treatment which really bores us. Tamil director Hari’s most favorite act of showing car rally was also there in cousins and here we get to see two car rally’s, one with black Scorpios and one with white Sumos. Songs doesn’t look that great visually as they have claimed that crores were spent on these. Script is really weak with shallow and trashy content. Dialogues are dramatic. Songs are average. Gopi Sundar’s BGMs were really poor. Art direction was good.

Kunchako Boban doesn’t have anything to do in this movie except for some dancing. Indrajith gets to do that supporting character which I believe was better than the hero. As everything else was extremely dull, Suraj looked like a savior. Joju George was funny playing his character in his typical style. Nisha Agarwal has shown a slight improvement in her acting. The gorgeous Vedhika is limited to two songs. Shajon was horribly painful. Nothing much to mention about the rest of the cast.

Cousins bored me to death with its tacky content and making. It has certain dialog jokes here and there to make us laugh, but we don’t pay for the ticket to hear that. The rating is 1.5/5 for Vysakh’s cousins.
