To Noora With Love

To Noora With Love begins as if Noora is the mother Teresa of Kerala (minimum Calicut). Except for the two shots in the beginning of the flashback, there is nothing much in the screenplay to make us believe that she is a selfless female. With a whole lot of old school melodrama in almost every frame, this film directed by Babu Narayanan is painful indeed for the viewer.

Story focuses on the life of Noor Jahan. She is an activist who helps all the organizations in all possible ways. In this journey Noor Jahan meets Shajahan a gazal singer and falls in love with him. Their married life and certain unfortunate incidents happening after that which complicates the scenario is the focus of the movie.

The way they have visualized the starting sequence involving media and flash back sequence showing the social commitment of the character itself puts the movie in the danger zone. Those people who hated some of the recent megastar films because of its “goodness spreading” theme should watch this film. That Kodipathi program was a really big nonsense and the art direction was really pathetic for that sequence. All the jokes in the romance could only create sigh from the viewers. The second half medical complications and the decision of the educated characters to take the risk was an illogical one.

On screen Krish Sathar is just about okay. Mamtha’s dialogue delivery in her own voice didn’t suit that character. Kaniha’s ummutha also was a badly written character. Ambika, Archana Kavi, Mamukoya, Niyaz and some more are there in the star cast. Irshad was almost like an assistant cameraman, roaming here and there with a camera.

Babu Narayanan’s way of conceiving the old school script was disappointing. He hasn’t done anything creatively to make things look natural. Script is drama chunk. It is a mix of unbaked social preaching, uncool coolness and irritating melodrama. Cinematography and edits are just about okay. Music is unimpressive.

To Noora with Love will not be loved by its viewers for sure. The maximum I can give with all my love is 1/5 for this movie. Shoddy stuff.
