22 Female Kottayam

22 Female Kottayam directed by the new sensation Aashiq Abu is a brilliant piece of film making. The movie is a bold attempt to showcase an issue that has high relevance in these times. Through Tessa K Abraham the makers of the movie has shown us the pain and the brutal reality that is faced by many of the young females. Giving it a commercial touch and to convince the audience is a tough task and Aashiq Abu and his team has done it with such ease.

The movie is about Tessa K Abraham, a nurse at CMS Hospital Bangalore who hails from Kottayam. As she wishes to go to Canada (like many other nurses these days) she goes to a visa agency. There she meets a guy Cyril and falls in love with him. As their love life moves on some unfortunate things happens and Tessa had to face the most brutal , dark and harsh realities of the modern day society. I dont want to go in deeply to the story as it will spoil the real beauty. It is a revenge story of a girl who has nothing to loose. Her method of revenge is what makes the movie a thrilling experience.
Performance wise both Rima Kallingal and Fahad Fasil excelled in their roles. Whether it is the fun moments or the serious moments, they both were competing with each other. Tessa is undoubtedly Rima’s best performance till date. Fahad also was really good in his Cyril avatar. Loved his performance towards the climax. Memorable performances by Prathap Pothan, Sathaar and TG Ravi. A special mention for Resmi Satheesh (as Subaida) for her promising debut.

Technically, Aashiq Abu has delivered one more gem. He has handled the movie quite brilliantly. No extra territorial gimmicks. Just reality shown with at most sincerity. Abhilash Kumarand Syam Pushkaran can be proud of making a neat script even though it is inspired by flicks like Kill Bill and Ek Hasina Thi. Editing was done sharply by Vivek Harshan. Cinematography was also on a high. Shyju Khalid deserves a pat for that. I loved the getup and costumes of Rima’s nurse character.

Overall 22 FK is a BRILLIANT and socially committed movie that stands for women!!
Without any doubt I can give 4/5 for director Aashiq Abu’s “22 Female Kottayam”. Watch it for the sake of Malayalam movies!!

  5. AN ART FORM HAS A RESPONSIBILITY TO LEAD THE SOCIETY IN A PROPER WAY.SINCE THE THE FILM “22 FK” POINTS OUT AND SHOW THE BLACKENED TRUTH AND REALITIES OF THE PRESENT SOCIETY,IT BECOMES AN UNFORGETTABLE EXPERIENCE THAN EVER BEFORE!!
SOCIAL SIGNIFICANCE AND BRILLIANCE IN THE PRESENTATION MAKES THE FILM HEART TOUCHING!!
    IN SHORT IT IS GREAT!!

  6. I can’t believe that people consider 22FK a good movie…

How can one look at the only lead in the movie acting so bad. Even the dubbing for Rima was done so bad.

What percentage of women (in Kerala India/world) just sleep with anyone for their personal benefits? Is the movie trying to show that females have no morale!!!

I watched this movie only because of me being a big fan of Fahad. Though he in his acting didn’t disappoint me, I wonder why would he do such a movie? Are all men out there pimps? Cheating their girlfriends? I think it’s hightime that we as a community break this mindset and change our outlook. We by and large are people of good human beings – of course barring a few. Just for a very low minority painting such a picture and showcasing that world is all gory is not right. Such movies cannot be celebrated.

And what is shown in the jail scenes? Almost every character (jail inmates) that was highlighted should that they aren’t REAL criminals!!! Common… Please go and take a look into any jail… You will find it quite contradictory.

And a female charged with drug, having spent time in jail, being out on bail can so easily lead a normal life? In India?? Definitely this movie is somebody’s dream world where nothing matches reality. I give a 1/5 just for performances by Pradaap Pothan, Fahad and the pregnant lady in jail.
