The Hunger Games : Mockingjay Part 2

There was this lack of intrigue which severely affected the whole presentation of the Mockingjay Part 1. With the story this time having an ending that pretty much had some good amount of twists and background detailing to its credit, The Hunger Games : Mockingjay Part 2 is very much a convincing conclusion to the series that began very impressively. Much like part 1, there is this darkness in the atmosphere which makes it a little bit dizzy here and there, but with certain mysteries that get unwrapped in the last minutes, the conclusion is worth watching for sure.

Starting from where they stopped it in part 1, Katniss Everdeen decides to get involved in the rebel movement even though president Coin didn’t allow her to join it. The film basically shows us the journey of Katniss along with the troop led by Boggs to kill Snow and what all hazards are awaiting them.

The good part of Mockingjay Part 2 lies in that dialog by Finnick, “Welcome to the 76th Hunger games”. The decision of Snow to give the rebel movement a hunger games makeover makes the plot more interesting and the film has tried to be more engaging in that zone. Even though it is a bit predictable, the kind of creepy ghost movie feel in those areas keeps the film in that interesting zone. Towards the climax, the drama sort of overshadows the content, but by revealing certain hidden agendas of characters, the movie manages to gain that lost rhythm and ends on that happy note.

Jennifer Lawrence performs nicely as the emotionally bewildered Mockingjay. Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth were also okay in their characters. Julianne Moore and Donald Sutherland had roles with more juice and they portrayed their characters impressively. Philip Hoffman’s role was smartly reduced in to a letter in that last portion.

Francis Lawrence manages to create more intrigue in the plot by visualizing the challenges in an impressive magnitude. The screenplay pacing was a bit awkward as it got hung up on certain portions for too long. The visual effects were good and the BGM did create an impact. The whole production design also showed quality.

On the whole The Hunger Games : Mockingjay Part 2 is definitely better than part 1 and it is a fair enough concluder to this Hunger games series. As per reports, there is a possibility of a prequel to the whole franchise, but no confirmation yet.

Final Thoughts

The Hunger Games : Mockingjay Part 2 is definitely better than part 1 and it is a fair enough concluder to this Hunger games series.
