Guardians of the Galaxy

Guardians of the Galaxy from Marvel is a damn good fun ride that makes you laugh out loud with that humorous treatment which we have seen in recent Marvel films like Avengers and Iron Man 3. They have lessened the typical things we are used to in a super hero film and thus this fresh formula to narrate things in a totally humorous perspective works for you.

Peter Quill was abducted from earth by space Ravagers in his childhood.  The grown up Peter was in search of an orb to deliver it to someone, but people coming after the orb make life difficult for him and at the end of it, he along with Gamora, Rocket and Groot gets imprisoned by the authorities of Xandar. And the film mainly focuses on the attempt of these four along with a co prisoner Drax to stop the Kree radical Ronan from destroying Xandar. Too vague right? Apologies for that inappropriate summary; I don’t want to spoil your fun with too much of an explanation about the story.

What makes it a perfect entertainer is its humor that comes at really unconventional areas. Every super hero film will have certain so called “motivational” parts that very rarely impress the adults. Director James Gunn has worked on this factor and the movie succeeds in breaking this cliché. Not just for the humor part, we all troll these kind of films for certain minimal factors like why the aircraft isn’t getting hit by some asteroid which is flying all over the place etc. Here we have a few sequences that kind of add a “reality” in to the treatment in terms of the above mentioned troll reasons. The characterizations are also pretty interesting and I loved those sequences where Drax went after the literal meanings of the metaphors.

Direction is pretty good and he succeeds in keeping the film in that unique humorous way throughout the run time. Screenplay doesn’t go for any sort of melodramatic back stories, which helps the movie a lot. Even though the idea of the orb is kind of used out, the witty ways of visualization makes the movie impressive. Visual effects were awesome. Good cinematography and cuts.

Chris Pratt and Zoe Saldana were good in their characters. WWE star Dave Bautista was the funnier one in the gang. Bradley Cooper, made Rocket the iron man of the gang (coolness). Michael Rooker also did an impressive job as Yondu.

Overall it’s a perfect popcorn entertainer which scores with its witty take on a used out subject. My rating for the Interstellar Avengers is 4/5. Guardians of the Galaxy – They are Groot!
