Saw “Sandwich” directed by MS Manu, from Calicut Radha. A horrible comedy film. Actually the makers seems to be confused whether to make this a no brain comedy or a full brain thriller and the confusion gave result to a foul smelling SANDWICH.
The film is about Sai, played by Kunchakko Boban, a bright software engineer. One day due to his careless driving he gets involved in a road accident and a notorious criminal gets killed in the incident. The film revolves around what Sai has to face after all this. The plot seems interesting for a good entertainer. But unfortunately there wasnt anything interesting in the movie. Almost all the emotional scenes seemed unwanted with too much melodrama. Director seems confused about Vijayakumar’s character. Whether to make him a joker or a pakka negative character.
Much like Tejabhai and Family only positive about this movie is Suraaj Venjaramood. Aandippatti Naaykkar played by Suraaj gave the audience something to laugh. Almost all of the melodramatic scenes made me feel like “Whats the big deal??”. Performance of Richa Panai was just ok. Cant blame her completely for that. People howled at the end of the first half and also at the end of the movie. The “tactical plans” in the Second half was too much!! Thank God, there was Suraaj on those scenes. Otherwise it would have been unwatchable.
Performance wise, all except Richa Panai did their roles neatly. Actually there wasnt anything challenging to PERFORM in this movie.
Technically, the story is totally in a confused mode. Dialogs were just ordinary. Direction is also just OK. Cant see a directors signature in the movie. Poorly captured and composed songs. The Ananya- Chackochan song came out of no where!! I still cant imagine that “Shambo Shiva Shambo” song in this movie. Cinematography also was just ordinary. Don Max has given his best in the editing table to make the movie look good.
